On EduOpen now you can enroll to pathways belonging to Masters (in the Italian higher education system, a Master is a formal academic qualification which is granted once students have earned at least 60 ECTS). The first one (already on line!) regards the training of educators of the students with sensory disabilities and is provided by University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. In the next months two other masters will be activated: the first one about open and digital education by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia; the second one in innovation in the teaching of English language by the University of Foggia. Anyone, after entering the platform for free, can take part in educational activities; those who pay the required fees, take part to stage and take exams at university, can earn the certification.   • Last october, EduOpen and the main European movements aimed at promoting Open Education philosophy and practices in Europe (FutureLearn, France Université Numérique, OpenupEd, Miríada X) started up the European MOOC Consortium at EADTU. The consortium gathers the leading organizations in the production of MOOCs in Europe in the field of life long learning and higher education. It represents 250 institutions that till now offer over 1000 Mooc in English, French, Spanish, Italian and many other European languages. EMC will develop activities to increase the awareness and use of digital education and MOOCs within universities, to innovate educational policies, to create an effective network in training and research.

  • Paolo Ferri (University of Milan-Bicocca) and Tommaso Minerva (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia) described he perspective proposed by EduOpen about training and openness during the Festival della Crescita (Growth Festival), at Milan on October 19th, 2017. Training paradigms, achieved and future goals were at the center of the presentation of the two professors.

  • On April 21th, 2017, the workshop "Open Education: A Mission for Italian Universities" was organized on the occasion of the first birthday of EduOpen at the University of Milan-Bicocca. During this first year a lot of achievements are reached: 17 universities, over 20,000 learners, more than 80 courses.

  • Six months after the launch of EduOpen platform, the university representatives of the network met in Rome for an analysis of the first activities and courses. The universities discussed the strategies of assessment and certification of the courses and the entrances in the network of associated members, such as research institutions, cultural and educational agencies.   

  • Recently two new universities became part of the network: welcome to LUMSA, Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta, of Rome and to University of Salerno.  

  • EduOpen is official partner of EMEMITALIA2016 conference to be held in Modena, on September 7-9, 2016. The session themes will regard changes generated by technology in the processes of learning and of knowledge building. Many contributions about EduOpen project and courses will be presented during the conference.   • A few weeks ago the University of Padova signed agreements to join EduOpen and is already at work to produce new open courses. Unipd is the 15th University in the network: excellent result! 

  • The press conference to present the project EduOpen was held on April 21, 2016, at Ministry of Education, University and Research, Viale Trastevere, 76/A, Rome. Speakers include: Oscar Pasquali, MIUR; Maurizio Ricci, University of Foggia; Angel O. Andrisano, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia; Gaetano Manfredi, Crui; Emilio Ferrari, Cineca; Sauro Longhi, Garr; Tommaso Minerva, EduOpen coordinator. 

  • A meeting about the EDUOPEN Network Project will be held on Tuesday, April 5th, starting at 10 in the Auditorium Complesso di Santa Lucia (Via Ariosto, 35). The Project aims at providing a catalogue of courses offered as MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) – this met the interest of the Ministry of Education, University and Research, and the project was thus awarded a specific grant of 100,000 Euros. 13 Italian universities will take part in the meeting: Polytechnic of Bari, Bari Aldo Moro, Ferrara, Foggia, Genoa, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Parma, Milano-Bicocca, Venice Ca' Foscari, Salento, Perugia, Bolzano, Politecnica delle Marche. The project has the University of Foggia as leading institution; responsible for the organizational, managerial and technological aspect is EDUNOVA, the Inter-University Centre for joint e-learning services linking the Universities of Ferrara, Modena and Reggio Emilia, and Parma. The day will start with the greetings of Livio Zerbini and Andrea Maggi (SE@ - Centre of communication technologies, innovation and learning at a distance) and will include sessions dedicated to the status of the project, the kick-off event, the scheduling of courses and the opening of membership to cultural and scientific institutions.
