On the EduOpen platform you’ll find:
- courses, usually lasting between 3 and 5 weeks. Courses are organised into Sections; each Section covers a topic and includes numerous Activities such as video lectures, educational resources, forums, collaboration tools, assignments and tests. Upon completion of each course you will receive an Attendance Certificate, an Open Badge and – if provided for by the University – a Verified Certificate and University Credits (ECTS). On each course description page, you’ll find some useful information about the course: you’ll see, for instance, that there are three modes of delivery of EduOpen’s MOOCs: Online, Blended or In-class. You’ll also see that instructors have estimated the amount of effort required to enjoy each course: put yourself to the test and keep up with your virtual classmates!
- pathways: groups of courses relating to a common topic and leading to a single set of learning goals. Pathways may link together a sequence of courses, and completing them may allow you to earn University Credits (ECTS) or, in some cases, academic qualifications like Specializations or Masters. You can register for an entire Pathway right from the description page and check your progress on your dashboard. As you proceed down your Pathway, you’ll find courses labelled as Milestones – which mark the achievement of intermediate goals – and Capstones – which bring Pathways to an end. Upon completion of a Pathway, you can ask for a Certificate and/or University Credits (ECTS): to do so, you’ll need to complete all Activities in your Pathway and – if so agreed – take the corresponding exam at the University offering the Pathway, under their current regulations. Just like individual courses, pathways have three modes of delivery available: Online, Blended or In-class.
